Full descriptionThe safety and sustainable qualities of this 10,000 litre tank make it ideal for the secure storage of heating oil in business premises, agricultural locations and commercial installations. Manufactured in the UK from tough, UV-resistant polyethylene, this tank utilises a bunded design for the safe, secure and environmentally-conscious storage of heating oil.
It is bunded meaning it is designed as a tank within a tank. This offers extra protection for the oil and for the environment around it. The inner tank holds the oil while the outer tank offers leak-protection and holds 110% of the total amount of liquid being stored.
In the unlikely event of the inner tank splitting, the outer tank retains the contents and protects the surrounding area from potentially-costly pollution. The strong, protective layer provided by the bund makes the tank stronger for reliable oil storage as well as inhibiting the build-up of rainwater and debris.
Features
Users will benefit from the electronic level gauge which remotely monitors the amount of fuel in your oil storage tank and wirelessly transmits the reading to an indoors receiver meaning you don’t have to go out in the cold to establish your fuel level. When the level is below 10 per cent, the fuel dispensing pump symbol appears on the receiver as a reminder to order more oil.
The tank is also equipped with an automatic shut-off overfill prevention device which prevents any further fluid from being dispensed once the maximum capacity has been reached. A lockable hinged flap lid is fitted which affords easy access to the tank and provides an additional security element.
This tank comes supplied with a 10 year warranty for your peace of mind.
Optional Extras
An optional lockable cabinet is available which comes equipped with a battery bund and high-quality overfill alarm which is designed to detect overfill, low liquid levels and provide an early warning of a breach in the bund layer of the tank. An upgraded % hydrostatic gauge is also included.

All Bunded Oil Tanks are fully compliant with all applicable requirements contained within The Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) (England) Regulations 2001, The Water Environment (Oil Storage) (Scotland) Regulations 2006 and comparable requirements throughout the United Kingdom.
Unsuitable for the storage of fuel for supply to vehicles and / or plant equipment via gravity fed fuel delivery systems incorporating a flexible hose and trigger nozzle.

What is the delivery cost for this tank?
The price of this tank includes FREE delivery to UK mainland addresses (exclusions apply).
For Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands and Islands, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Scilly Isles and Channel Islands, there will be an additional charge, please contact us for a quote. We always ensure that we provide our customers with a competitive delivery price, wherever you may be located, using carriers with local knowledge and expertise.
How long will it take for my tank to arrive?
You can specify a delivery date using the "Delivery Date" option above. This gives you the flexibility to choose a suitable delivery date and plan ahead for the arrival of the tank. For example, if you want to place an order today for delivery in 3 weeks time, you can select the delivery date above and we will schedule the delivery accordingly.
Deliveries are made between 8am - 4pm on the specified delivery date, Monday-Friday excluding bank holidays. All deliveries will require a signature.
We always have high levels of stock available but on some occasions, we may not be able to deliver on your specified day, we will contact you immediately if this is the case with an alternative delivery date.
How will the tank be delivered to my address?
Our standard delivery is via a pallet delivery service. Deliveries will be made to the "kerb-side" of your delivery address using a tail lift which lowers the tank to the ground level from the delivery vehicle.

My property is located in an area with restricted access, will you be able to deliver to my address?
If there is restricted access at your location, we are able to arrange delivery using specific vehicles designed for areas with, for example, low bridges or narrow access roads. Please call our sales team to discuss your requirements.
Can the tank be moved to the exact location I need?
As deliveries will be made to the "kerb-side" of your delivery address, you will be responsible for moving the tank to the desired location on your property.
What is a bunded oil tank?
A bunded tank uses a "tank within a tank" design. The inner tank is used to store the oil which is then enclosed in a secondary container which acts as the bund. The bund will protect your oil in the event of the inner tank splitting and has the ability to hold 110% of the inner tank's contents. They are considered to be the safest way to store heating oil and have become the industry standard with OFTEC installers.
What materials are used in their construction?
Tuffa tanks are manufactured in the UK from tough, UV stabilised and recyclable polyethylene. This has excellent chemical and impact resistance properties, making it ideal for external fuel storage.
When installed, how is the tank filled with oil?
Each Tuffa Bunded Oil Tank is supplied with a 2″ BSP Fill Connection with cap and chain. When your oil supplier arrives at your location, they will simply connect their fill pipe to this inlet and dispense the oil into your tank. It provides a safe and secure fill point for your tank.
How can I check and monitor the amount of oil in the tank?
Tanks in this range come fitted with either a float level gauge or Watchman Sonic Electronic Gauge. All tanks supplied with a float level gauge can be upgraded to a Watchman Sonic gauge.
The float level gauge uses a float connected to a level display which indicates the fuel level along with a secondary measure of the fuel quantity in the clear inner tank.
The Watchman Sonic gauge uses a tank mounted transmitter which wirelessly transmits the reading to an indoors receiver meaning you don’t have to go out in the cold to establish your fuel level.
Who are OFTEC?
OFTEC establishes the standards for competence within the domestic oil heating and cooking industry. By ensuring the quality of people and businesses working in this area, OFTEC maintains standards for reputable companies and consumers alike.
What is an OFTEC approved installer/engineer?
They are a trained and approved competent person who is approved by OFTEC to install and service domestic and commercial oil tanks. Your oil tank must be installed by an OFTEC engineer and to maintain the 10 year warranty the tank must be inspected every year.
Tank location - OFTEC guidelines
Oil tanks are required to comply with fire separation distances in order to adequately protect the stored fuel from a fire or heat source, that may originate nearby. Tanks should be sited:
If it is impossible to comply with these requirements, then a fire protection barrier with at least 30 minutes fire rating should be installed, please call us for more details. A minimum separation distance of 100mm is required between the tank and fire-rated barrier.
Tank base and support - OFTEC guidelines
The need to provide a suitable base and support for your oil tank is of paramount importance for reasons of both safety and environmental protection. The base should be:
If an oil storage tank is not adequately supported, the tank itself can be weakened leading to the eventual failure and escape of the stored fuel. During the life of an installation, an oil storage tank base will need to provide continual structural support, even though ground conditions may alter from season to season and year to year.
To comply with British Standards, the base material should be one of the following laid on a hardcore base to give an imperforate base:
The overall size of the base should be larger than the oil storage tank and any integral oil storage tank bund, so that when the oil storage tank is installed, the base has a clear projection of a minimum of 300mm around all sides of the oil storage tank.
